How does it work?

To ‘fine tune’ a mechanical pump diesel a skilled mechanic must make adjustments to the fuel and timing of the fuel pump in order to achieve improved performance. On an electronic diesel this is impossible as the ECU (engine computer) controls the fuel pump and any changes need to be made electronically. This is where the DPChip comes in.

The DPChip is a ‘piggy back’ computer that makes real time changes to both fuel loads and fuel timing to greatly improve engine performance, all within safe operating parameters. The DPChip cannot harm your engine because it comes after the ECU, in fact it does not over-ride anything, it works with the existing ECU signals but enhances them to improve both power and torque. It is the only device of it’s type in the market that comes after the ECU. This is important because it allows all engine operational safety and error detection systems to remain intact.

The device itself is quite small, the size of a box of matches for some units and for common rail diesel’s, the size of a small mobile phone. The DPChip is also adjustable for further power and to suit any modifications you might make to your vehicle or to fine tune it to your particular needs. Adjustment is via a 10 position selector on most models. The vehicle can be returned to standard at any time by simply selecting 0 on the dial or by removing the DPChip .
